Nusa Ceningan

Nusa Ceningan: small enough to enjoy big. The island, located between Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida, is a small paradise with beautiful beaches, crystal clear blue waters and a relaxed atmosphere. Nusa Ceningan the perfect destination for those who want to escape the crowds for a while.

The island is so small that the things to do can pretty much be counted on one hand, but if you want to escape the hustle and bustle, you can spend 2-3 nights there to enjoy the laid-back island life.

Mahana Point

Mahana Point is known for its adrenaline-pumping cliff dives and stunning ocean views. This is where daredevils come to throw themselves into strong currents under the heading of cliff jumping. Those a little less fond of such adrenaline-like activity will stick to watching while enjoying a drink.

You can have your food and drink at a table, but it's better to find yourself a spot at the wooden blue bar that directly overlooks the ocean. Here you can see surfers riding the waves, as well as some cliff jumpers braving the 15-meter jump.

As for me, Mahana Point is among my favorite spots on Nusa Ceningan:

  • The bar offers great views of the big waves and the surfers braving them.
  • A quiet nearby beach
  • Should you want to cliff jump yourself, this is your chance!

The beach itself is accessible via a small path to the right (if you are coming from the Blue Lagoon). You'll recognize it immediately by all the scooters parked there. For another view of the beach and Mahana Point, there is another abandoned bar/villa nearby with an excellent view.

    Visit the 3-island viewpoint

If you are high enough on Nusa Ceningan you can see the famous yellow bridge and the neighboring island of Nusa Lembongan on the west side, while in the distance you can see Mount Agung towering over everything and everyone in Bali. I took this photo with my drone from the Blue Lagoon.

    Secret Beach

Secret Beach is the most popular beach on Nusa Ceningan. A pearly white sand beach with crystal clear waters and beautiful ocean views. A perfect place to swim or just relax on the beach.

    Blue Lagoon

The name Blue Lagoon largely gives it away: with the turquoise water and the waves crashing against the rocks, it is somewhat similar to Devil's Tears on Nusa Lembongan. Swimming is absolutely not possible here either, when you see the power of the waves you will quickly understand why. From the viewpoint you look out over the ocean and the beach below.

Blue Lagoon is located next to Mahana Point, so you can more than easily combine these 2 sights.

    Yellow Bridge

The area around the yellow bridge that connects the island to Nusa Lembongan looks a bit like an average postcard. Beautiful water with countless boats, the bridge as an eye-catcher and a beautiful green landscape around it. If you have a drone you can capture some beautiful images here! Even if you don't have a drone you can definitely unleash your creativity with your camera!

Tip: The bridge is quite narrow, watch out for passing scooters if you want to take a picture.

And time to move on: let's visit the neighbours!

Nusa Lembongan, as mentioned above, you can visit without taking an extra ferry, for the other neighboring island you will have to get on the boat. At the Yellow Bridge (on the Nusa Lembongan side) you can buy a ticket for the public ferry to Nusa Penida. As soon as the boat is full it will leave, so you may have to wait for 15 minutes. A ticket for this public ferry cost me IDR 50,000 (€3.25).
