Austria

Welcome to Austria! A country well known for its breathtaking nature. Mountains, alpine lakes, waterfalls and much more. I haven't seen that much of the country so far, but after visiting the Plansee I am surely planning to explore more places. You can read more about my visit to the Plansee in the article below!

Plansee

Nestled in the heart of the Tyrol region of Austria, Plansee is a serene alpine lake with pristine waters and stunning natural surroundings.

Enjoy being active, but also relax in the beautiful nature of Austria. The Plansee is a perfect example of this. Quietly enjoy the sunrise in the morning, take a jump into the deep end or hike for the most beautiful viewpoint over the Plansee. In addition, the location is perfect: in fact, you can be in Bavaria (Germany) in just under an hour.

Got your camera ready? Time to dive!

The Plansee is absolutely one of the most beautiful places for a refreshing dive in the morning!

Hike to the Plansee Viewpoint for a panoramic view

The Plansee is situated in Tyrol's picturesque district of Reutte. At an altitude of approximately 976 meters (3,202 feet) above sea level, there’s a refreshing mountain air. The lake covers an expansive area of about 2.87 square kilometers (1.11 square miles) and is one of Tyrol's largest natural lakes. The Plansee is characterized by crystal clear water thanks to the pristine mountain streams and springs that feed into the lake.

The best way to enjoy the true beauty of this lake? Hiking to the Plansee viewpoint!

Other things to do at the Plansee

Camping

For those who seek an intimate connection with nature, Plansee offers camping sites and accommodations. Camping by the lake allows you to wake up to the soothing sounds of water and the magnificent backdrop of the Alps.

Scenic Drives

The road encircling Plansee is a route renowned for its breathtaking views of the Austrian Alps. It's a haven for those in search of scenic drives, especially during the fall when the foliage adorns the landscape with vibrant colors. It's surely a popular route for people with a motorbike, as I saw many of them.

Boat tour

Take a boat tour and see the lake from up close and enjoy being surrounded by mountains, mountains and mountains.
