Crestasee

Welcome to Crestasee! This tranquil alpine lake, with its crystal-clear turquoise waters and idyllic surroundings, offers a haven of peace and natural beauty. Among locals, it’s known as Lake Cresta, Lag la Cresta, or Crestasee. It’s situated at 844 meters above sea level.

In this blog, you can read more about visiting the Crestasee, how you can get there and what you can do at this peaceful alpine lake.

Getting to Crestasee

Crestasee is located near the town of Flims in the Graubünden canton of Switzerland. The lake is easily accessible by car, and there are also public transportation options available. As you make your way through the winding roads and scenic landscapes, anticipation builds for the hidden oasis that awaits you.

The nearest international airport to Crestasee is Zurich Airport (ZRH). From the airport, you can take a rental car to get to Crestasee, or use the train to get to Chur. From Chur, it’s a 30 minute bus ride to the town of Flims. From here, you can walk to the parking lot where the actual walk to the lake will start.

Parking

There are a variety of parking places available, but I chose for the one closest to the lake: P5. Find it here on Google Maps! Note that you’ll have to pay a small parking fee per hour, which the parking machine only accepts in Swiss Francs.

From the parking lot, follow the signs to Crestasee, which will take you approximately 15 to 20 minutes. The path is easy and has minor altitude changes. Halfway you’ll pass an intersection where you’ll see signs for the Caumasee. From here, it’s approximately 70 minutes to reach the Caumasee.

If you want to combine those two lakes in one day, but don’t feel like walking that much, you can walk back to the parking lot and drive to the Caumasee. From the Caumasee parking lot, you’ll reach the entrance of the Caumasee in approximately 15 minutes.
